I worked in close conjunction with FSC France on the translation of the updated version of the forestry management standard for mainland France.
This translation called for great precision, especially as the English version of the standard is the one that is legally binding, given that FSC is an international NGO. In addition to the need for accuracy, the previous version of this sensitive document dated from 2016 and had therefore undergone substantial changes since it was last published. I had to manage updates and modifications in a number of source documents, comparing the French versions with each other and with the previous translations, trying to ensure that the new English version was as consistent as possible with the legacy translation.
It proved to be a challenging project, but very satisfying too: it was equally a real pleasure to work with FSC France technical director Guillaume Dahringer, who was both quick and understanding when answering my many queries!
