In February 2023, I was contacted by Accoast – a local company specialising in consulting, assessment and project management in the field of coastal engineering – to translate an investigation report following an assessment it had carried out on coastal marine structures in Saudi Arabia. As English was neither the native language of Accoast’s engineers nor that of its customer, the challenge was rather substantial: produce a clear, accurate English version of the report whilst using the specific terminology of coastal engineering.
This was a very interesting project for me, where I needed to use of my skills and knowledge of engineering whilst also undertaking extensive research on marine and coast structures in order to find the right terms. Thanks to the advice and support received from Damien Levallois and his team of engineers at Accoast, combined with the open and positive communication we had throughout the project, the translation was delivered on time and to the satisfaction of all parties.
